Tuesday next will be an important day among the, Auckland Country Racing ,Clubs, in that on that day a Conjfeirence of these clubs will be held to

consider certain proposals as regards the Rules of Racing. Being, the first Conference held by country clubs there will in turf circles naturally be a lot of interest evinced as to what proposals they will make. Having always advocated that country racing clubs should have some representation granted them at conferences which deal with matters that naturally concern them, we hope that, armed "with the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s proposals, they will thresh the question out temperately and quietly. The Metropolitan Clubs have wisely recognised the country clubs’ claims to consideration, and in the face of the prosals already formulated we hope that there will be no attempt at a battle a outrance between town and country, but that everything will be carried on in a dispassionate spirit.
