Egmont Racing Club’s Summer Meeting

The Egmont Racing Club commenced their Summer Meeting to-day in showery weather. The attendance was good and the course was in capital order. The racing resulted as under :— Waimate Handicap of 60 sovs. Seven furlongs.—Stranger, 1; Tulloch, 2 ; Whimsical, 3. Time, imin 36sec. Dividend, 16s. First Handicap Hurdles of 100 sovs. Two miles and a distance.—Tattler, 1 ; Marechai Neil, 2; Gladius, 3. Whalebone fell, Fishmonger jumped badly throughout. Time, 4min josec. Dividend, ns. The Egmont Handicap of 300 sovs., two miles. —St. Katherine 7.6, 1; Rosefeldt 7.13, 2; Musket 7.0, 3. A great race. Won by a neck. Time, 3min. 44 i-gsec. Dividend, 17s. The Hack Hurdle Race fell to Union Jack, with Cingalee second and Respond third. The race had to be run twice owing to the field being started at the wrong post. Dividend, 12s.
The Hack Flat Race fell to Mutiny, with Thunderbolt second and War Cry third. Time, imin. 54sec. Dividend, £l6 12s. Durus won the Welter Handicap, with Fra ternite second and Fleta third, the dividend being £3 ios-
