Sir Tatton Sykes has purchased the brood mare Kate Craig (dam of Balmoral) from Matthew Dawson, the price being 2,000 gs. The mare is in foal to the Two Thousand Guineas winner Minting. Signor Boucau, having disposed of Ormonde, and the champion having left Buenos Ayres for good and all, the South Americans are consoling themselves with the fact that they have still his son Orville to represent the greatest horse of the century.
E. Gorry, who as a light weight, bade fair to climb to the top of the tree when he rode Bravo to victory in the Melbourne Cup ..of rlBB9, ihas come down in the scale a good deal since then, and is now travelling round the South Australian country districts with a horse called. Jew Boy, picking up what little crumbs he can. The Australian Jockey Club’s balance-sheet for the past year shows that a profit of /■ 702 was made on the club’s transactions*for the year 1892. The Distressed Jockeys Fund stands and there isabank balance, to creditofnearly /io, 000.
