HAWKE’S BAY JOCKEY CLUB’S SUMMER.

The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club is another Metropolitan Club that will hold high festival —as has for years been their annual custom —on Boxing Day. The nomination list was, as usual, confined to local horses, and I am sorry to say that Mr Evett’s adjustments have not produced as satisfactory an acceptance as was expected, there being only 5 left in the Hurdles, 7 in the Welter Handicap, half a-dozen in the Summer Handicap, 8 in the Trial Handicap, 7 in the Two Year Old Handicap and 9 in the Christmas Handicap. My selections, taking the events in the order in which they will be run off, are:—Welter Handicap, Musketeer; Hurdle Handicap, Kaimanawa; Summer Handicap, Huerfana with St. Malo next best ; Trial Handicap, Rangiatea ; Two’ Year Old Handicap, Haeata with Midas next; Christmas Handicap, Krina with Free Lance second.
