Sporting Review. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1892.
Some Racing Clubs in the Auckland Provincial District openly intimated their intention a few weeks back of kicking against the Rules of Racing and defying the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Club of the district —the Auckland Racing Club. One of them, the Northern Wairoa Racing Club, went so far as to issue a programme in which it was expressly stipulated that their programme was not subject to the Auckland Racing Club. The outcome is that the Northern Wairoa Racing Club, having made application to the Colonial Secretary for the issue of a permit to use the totalisator, and having had their application refused, have asked the Auckland Racing Club if they may be allowed to fall in with their regulations. A special meeting of the Committee of the Club to consider the matter was convened for Tuesday, when it was decided to communicate with the Colonial Secretary on the matter. So the matter stands at present, and it presents a lesson which may point a moral to other country racing bodies.
