At the Doncaster sales in September the Sledmere lot were the great attraction, and the colt by Minting out of Reprieve gave rise to some spirited bidding between Captain Machell and Sir J. B. Maple, the youngster being eventually secured by the latter for 4,5°° g ns - Eor the filly by Rosebery out of Empress Maud (an own. sister to Lord Rosebery) Lord Rosslyn gave 3,500 guineas, and other good figures obtained were 1,300 gns. for a colt by Isonomy out of Rudstone (sold to Captain Cookson), 1,250 gns. for Go Lightly, by Galopin out of Lady Chesterfield, (purchased by Mr. J. Cannon), and 1,050 gns. for Wedding Bell, by Hampton out of Sterling Love (taken by Sir R. Griffiths).
