Tuesday.

There will be some good racing at the Town and Suburban Club’s meeting on the gth inst., the acceptances for the. majority of the races being good. The Meanee Handicap of six furlongs should fall to Rangiatea, with Como and Jessie next in that order. The Handicap Hurdles looks a good thing for Tiritea, and failing him Aorere. There are five in the Prince of Wales’ Handicap, and my opinion is that King George will fight it out with Link. In the Taradale Handicap St. Malo has g.i and Zaccho 7- I 0» both being penalised by winning at Gisborne. Huerfana is well in with 7.12, but has not been doing much work since the Park Meeting, having got her back hurt in some way or other. I thought at first she would win, but she cannot if she is not well. In that event I look to Free Lance, who has only 7.0. In the Welter I see nothing to beat Link, and in the Flying Aronoel should make a hot race of it with Kathleen. There are a dozen entries for the Maiden, and I think Fifty Boy (not the Chinaman’s mare Seventy Bob) will about get home. Mr. Collins has purchased the Gisborne horse Stockfish, by Piscatorius —Lacteal.

Fred Stowe has left Mr. Ormond’s employ. My tip for the New Zealand Cup is St. Hippo 1, Launceston 2, Crackshot 3. For the Canterbury Derby I fancy St. Hippo 1, Launceston 2, Whakawatea 3; for the Stewards’ Handicap Stepniak 1, Thame 2, The Dancer 3. Westmere ought to go near taking the Welcome Stakes. A good contingent of Hawke’s Bay “ sports ” are visiting Christchurch this year. Glenloth was not much fancied here for the Melbourne Cup. This is the horse that Wally Clifford rode in the Caulfield Cup won by G’Naroo, and complained of Dundas’ always getting in his road and preventing him getting

nearer than fourth. Napierites were rather surprised at Ronda and Penance occupyingtheotherplaces.butoneneednot be surprised at anything that occurs on the turf now-a-days.
