YACHTING.

An adjourned meeting of the Auckland Yacht Club was held on Monday, when there were about twenty members present. A long discussion took place regarding the measurement of yachts, which was terminated by the adoption of the following resolution:—“That the following addition be made to the club rules: That_in the case of yachts carrythe upper peak block to the saddle or gooseneck of main boom (any length of pole above the peak block beyond two feet to be added to the length for perpendicular), and in yachts with lug sail the perpendicular shall be from sheave or main halyards to deck.” Mr. Cozens gave notice of motion “ That the Auckland Yacht Club adopt the New Zealand Yachting Association’s rule for sail area measurement for rating.” Mr. O. B. Waymouth also gave notice of motion to amend the rule for rating at present in force by taking the actual measurement of the topmast carried by a boat instead of computing it as at present. It was resolved “ That the New Zealand Yachting Association be recommended to fix the second-class championship race at 5 rating and under instead of 7 rating and under.” Mr. Henderson, who had proposed this resolution, gave notice of motion as under : — “ That any motion which has been duly brought forward and discussed shall not be considered again during the same season.” Messrs. J. Logan and W. Wiseman were elected members of the club.
