YACHTING.
A meeting of the members of the Auckland Yacht Club was held at the Waitemata Hotel on Monday evening. Mr. J. Wiseman presided and 17 other members were present. The meeting had been convened by Mr. G. Goldie, who wished to bring forward a motion that the existing rule re sail area measurement should be repealed, and that the rule at present used by the N.Z. Yatching Association should be substituted for it. After a short discussion Mr. Goldie moved and Mr. Reynolds seconded, “ That the existing rules re sail area measurement be repealed, and that those adopted by the New Zealand Yachting Association be substituted.” On being put to the meet- . ing the motion was lost by 8 vOtesljgMß Mr. T. Henderson then gave noj®|||l|| motion for the next meeting as “ That the following addition be made to the club rules—That, in the case of yachts carrying bona fide pole-masts, the measurement for perpendicular shall be from the upper block to the gooseneck or saddle of the mainsail (any length of pole above the upper peak block beyond two feet to be added to the length of perpendicular); and in yachts with lugsails, perpendicular shall be from the sheave of main halyards to deck.” It was resolved that an exhibition of models and yacht designs Be held in connection with the annual meeting of the club. The following new members were elected: — Messrs. H;?,. Browne, C. Grubb and B. Keesing. The, meeting then adjourned till Monday next/? the 15th inst.
