Duhkeld, the man-eater, is located in the Wagga district now, and is reported as being greately cured of his bad habit. Some persons believe in coincidences. For - instance, we have heard of those who backed at the Auckland meeting because it 7 rained that morning just prior to the races, blow we have the report that in Australia a number consistently backed a horse called Storm in a hurdle race, because of the bad weather, and he rewarded them by winning easily. According to paragraphs in the sporting papers from London, it would seem that Mr. “. Joe ” Thompson, the Australian leviathan, won a large sum over the Cesarewitch, but a number did not “ pay up.” He intends placing in the hands of Tattersall's Club a sum equal to that owing to him, and then give his “ swell” customers the alternative of paying or be posted as defaulters
