Sporting Review. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1891. AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB.
The Auckland Trotting Club’s Committee met at their rooms, Durham-street East on Friday afternoon to dispose of general business, there being a full attendance. The first matter dealt with was the consideration of the Onslow Trotting Club’s programme, which had been submitted for approval by Mr. W. Wallace, who is acting for Mr. Goldsbro’ until he can get about again ; the day asked for by the Onslow Club was the 23rd of January. The following is the reply forwarded :—“ That the programme be referred back to the Onslow Trotting Club to reconsider the date selected, as this committee do not think it advisable to have trotting meetings coming so close to each other, and the committee of the Onslow Trotting Club must be aware that* there is already a trotting fixture advertised for the 9th of January and a second on the 13th of February, and as these dates are only five weeks apart this Committee do not think it would be in the interests of trotting to pass any programme between these. Further this committee is not aware of any dates being taken up after the 27th of February, and desire to intimate that any date in March would meet their views.” , . A copy of the evidence taken by the Otahuhu Trotting Club in reconsidering their decision to disqualify Pica and fine Greenwood, etc., was received, and the decision arrived at by the Otahuhu Club to remove the same was, after a full and lengthy discussion, endorsed. As the case now stands, the pony Cupid and the boy Geach (his rider) are disqualified for twelve months. All the other sentences passed are cancelled.
