At the fall of the flag, Waterbury and Te Ata at once rushed to the front and led for the first mile, but going round at the back the second time round, they both ran off, and at the same hurdle Hiamoe fell, leaving Rere and Kaimanawa in command of affairs, a good race resulted between these two, and after a desperate finish, was won by Rere by half a length. Mahaseer and Rustic led for the first mile, but the second time round, Doncaster, who had been lying very handy went to the front, and stalling off Manganoho’s challenge in the straight, won rather easily by a length. Riddiford’s Piako, 13st 31b. T. Cameron 3 27 Rum’un, 10 Hop Bitters, 7 Pawa, and 7 Tom Tit, also ran. At the first fence Piako fell, and Hop Bitters baulked. Tom Tit took command of the field and led untill the second time past the stand, but going over the double he ran off at the second J un }P leaving Flintstone in the front, who was never afterwards caught, romping in an easy winner by a dozen lengths. Phormium Tenax got the best of the start and quickly put four or five lengths between his field, he led until half a dozen lengths from the post, when Omaha, who was racing gamely under the wip managed to catch him, and won by a head. Cable led for two miles and a half, when he was passed by Queenslander and Canute who raced together until a quarter of a mile from home, when Queenslander drew away, and Worth came with a big rush, but could not manage to catch the winner, who won somewhat easily, being fit to go another mile. Holmes’Phormium Tenax, Bst 31b, Collelo 3 104 Donovan, 32 Niobe 2 Rata, 10 Eve, and 2 Rangitau also ran. Manganoho, Stranger, Traitrex, Camlachie, Perla, and Pride of the Hills were scratched. Phormium Tenax led for the first mile, when Ros came with a rush and passed him, winning rather easily. Dividend; £3 3s. Ladies Bracelet, value £lO. 33 Mrs. J. G. Wilson’s Doctor 1 45 Mrs. D. G. Riddiford’s Piako, Mr. T. Cameron 2 67 Miss Scott’s Konini, Mr. Hathaway 3 45 Flintstone, 4 Rum ’un, 4, Pawa, also ran. Hop Bitters, Pera, Mikado, Cruiskeen wore scratched. Doctor won easily.
