Surrey followed up its victory over Notts by beating Lancashire by 207, the latter team included A. G. Steel, and A. N. Hornby. Surreys scores were 209 and 261, Lancashire 187 and 76. Lohmann made 50 and 49, and took seven wickets for 92 and one for 22. Maurice Read got 38 and 57. For Lancashire A. C. Maclaren scored 51 not out, and 19 not out, his play was considerably praised. Leicestershire had the worst of a drawn game with Yorkshire, the scoring being low on both sides on accbnnt of a wet ground. Kent put Middlesex down by an innings and 8 runs, at Lords. Martin for Kent, took 7 wickets for 26, and six for 22. The gentlemen of England easily defeated the players for the first time for several years, with an innings to spare. J. J. Ferris the famous Australian bowler greatly assisted to bring about the result, by taking 7 of the players wickets for 28 runs.

Sussex beat Yorkshire at Dewsbury by an nnings and 31 runs.

Surrey made the grand score of 449 against Somersetshire, who only succeeded in making two thirty sevens.
