Reader, Ellerslie. —The longest jump ever taken by a horse was 39 feet, by Chandler, at Warwick, ridden by Captain Beecher This has several times been disputed, however, and the jump has been put down at 37 feet. Tom Oliver on Culverthorpe cleared 37 feet 6 inches at Moreton Le Marche in Worcestershire. A.P., Auckland.—The three horses which ran a dead heat in the Caesarewitch were El Hakin, Queen Bess and Prioress. In the run off Fordham rode Prioress, in place of the American Jockey. She won by two 1 lengths, El Halon second, Queen Bess third. J.S.R., Auckland.—Orangeman won five out of his ten engagements in New Zealand last season. He won the Hurdle Race at Otahuhu on October sth, the Open Hurdle Race at the Pakuranga Hunt Club Meeting, the two Hurdle Races at the A.R.C. Spring Meeting, and the Summer Steeplechase. Jack Rae rode him on each occasion. Breeder, Otahuhu.—Nelly Moore (the dam of Lochiel, Corunna and Steadfast), was got by Voltigeur, her Ham Fickle, by Dundee, from Changeable, by Weatherbit —Miss Aidcroft, by Ratan —Actaeon.
