BRIGADIER is a dark brown horse, with black points, standing about 16 hands 2 inches. He was bred by Mr. T. Morrin of Auckland. He is seven years old. BRIGADIER only started on three occasions, namely, Mares’ Produce Stakes, in which he beat Howitzer, Ricochet, Tamora, Lady Norah, and others. In the Flying Stakes he beat Mitrailleuse and four others (he ran the i-mileinlm. 175.). Won the Ellerslie Plate beating Tamora and Antelope. i - Tebms. —Thoroughbred mares, £7 ; half-bred mares, £4. _ Two or more mares per agreement. Groom’s fee, 45., to be paid on the fl-st service. Slanderer, byTraducer out of Gitana, by Sir Hercules out of Gipsy Queen, by II Barbierre. GRIP thus combines some of the stoutest strains to be found in the Stud Book. Grip is a black horse, with a white blaise, standing 16 hands high, on short legs, and shows great power and qua’ity. During his racing career he, at three years old, ran second for the Canterbury Derby and won the Dunedin St. Leger. He did not run as a four-year-old. At five years he won the C.J.C. Handicap, two miles, carrying Bst. 61bs.; the Canterbury Cup af o( J sovs., two and a quarter miles, carrying 9st. 51bs.; and Christchurch Plate. ... GRIP was an undoubted stayer under big weights, and in the season 1881 headed tke list of winners with a total of £1,455.
