ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.
Monday. Patchwork was the first out on Monday morning, and he was sent three times round the tan at a slow pace, similiar exercise being awarded to Antelope, who appears well forward. Glaucus was worked in the centre of the course, and then Hedger’s colt, The Dancer, was sent twice round the same track at half-pace. Ma Boughal, with sweaters on, was given good serviceable exercise. Capella was worked in the middle, and Moderator was restricted to walking exercise. After breakfast Miss Cole and Coalscuttle were associated together for a round on the tan at half-pace, and Reprisal did two rounds on the same track slowly. Fiesole was also worked on the tan at a slow pace, and Transit was exercised in the middle—this horse is in Tommy Taylor’s stable. Myrtiform schooled over the small jumps and went three times round, while Fishmonger and Odd Trick were associated together over the steeplechase jumps, each going well. Tuesday. All the work before breakfast was done on the course proper. Patchwork and Glaucus were associated together for a good twice round. The pace was fast all the way, but Glaucus was of no use to his companion and pulled up sore. Tamora went twice round at a serviceable pace. Nap, looking well, went two circuits fast. Priscilla and the King Cole—Queen Mab colt were coupled for once round, Priscilla running clean away from her companion. Capella and Ma Boughal were then sent for a similiar journey, and although the latter had all the best of the weights, Capella romped home in front. The Captivator —Madcap colt went once round at half-pace, moving in a taking fashion. Antelope was sent a circuit at top, finishing very strong. This mare is very forward and in great fettle. The Dancer spurted over five furlongs, and is daily improving. Myrtiform did walking exercise in the middle. Harrison’s team worked after breakfast. Thursday. On Thursday before breakfast Glaucus went twice round the course proper at half pace. Priscilla went a circuit by herself, when Thorpe’s Queen Mab colt joined in and the pair completed another round. Hedger’s colt, The Dancer, went once round at half pace, Antelope following this up with two circuits at a strong working pace. After breakfast Miss Cole was sent a good once round the course proper, an example followed by Reprisal and The Workman, who were coupled together at a strong pace, both going well. Patchwork went twice round alone, being brought home the last three furlongs by the Captivator—Madcap colt at top. The gallop was a good one. Tamora went two circuits alone, moving very freely. Fiesole went twice round, finishing up at her best pace. Randwick was sent three times round the tan and was also schooled over the hurdles and sod wall. Odd Trick did a good working gallop on the tan. Friday. Owing to the heavy rain the night before only walking exercise was done.
