INDIA.
In an article on our armaments in India written for the Times by an Indian officer the writer endeavours to prove that "our armaments there are hopelessly inadequate, and to a large extent obsolete and out of date, and that we are by no means ready for the great struggle for which we have been prepai'ing for so many years, and which may at any time be sprung on us." " Wretchedly provided in the matter of transport," " Oruns too few and too obsolete," " Personnel insufficient for a war of first magnitude," "Some of the cavalry still armed with the old Martini carbines," are some of the
sweeping charges he brings againafc the powers that be. Verily the Boer wai 1 has taught us many things.
