June 14. Golf. On Thursday the Ladies’ Golf Club played the first round for the captain's

trophy. Among the players were: — Mrs. ilvan Logan, Mrs. Hector Smith, Mre. Gould, Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Killey, IMre. Davi“, Mrs. Ziele, Mrs. Ruasell, Misses Hindmarsh (2), Lipscomb, G. Bernau, Clark (2', Hamlin, and Crosse. Personal. Mre. Jex-Blake has returned to Gisborne. Miss Agnew-Brown, of Gisborne, is visiting friends in Hawke's Bay. Mrs. Sainsbury, who has been spending some weeks in Napier, returned to Gisborne last week. Mr. and Mrs. Warren, of Tomoana, have come into'town for the winter, and are staying at the Masonic Hotel.

Mrs. A. H. Lewis and Miss Williams, of Wanganui, returned to their home on Tuesday.

Mrs. P. T. Batley is staying at the Masonic Hotel.
