HAMILTON.
June 7. Winter Show. On Tuesday last the Prime Ministeropened the ‘largest Winter Show yet held by the local society. There were the usual congratulatory speeches from the president (Mr. F. E. Smith) the Mayor (Mr. A. E. Manning), Mr. R. iBollard, M.P., and Mr. J. A. Young, M.P., and ending with a fine address from’ Mr. Massey. Since that time crowds have been pouring into the huge building, 6,000 to 7,000 people attending each day. A few among the crowds that I noticed were: —Mrs. F. E. Smith, Mrs. Greenslade, Mrs. R. Greenslade, Mrs. Atkin, Mrs. Pemberton, Mrs. Olliverj, Mrs. Primrose, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Brewis, Mrs. Allan Bell, Mrs. Afaninhing, Misses Lambert, Mrs. C. Williams, Mrs. Osborne, Miss Newell, Mrs. Watson, Mrs Johnson, Mrs Graham, Miss Y. Graham, Miss Stevens. Mrs. Douglas, Miss Rothwell, Mrs. E. Wilson, Mrs. Tompkins, Mrs. Furze, Mrs. Barugh, Mrs. Herdman, Mrs. Fergusson, Mrs. Hurd-Wood, Mrs. Cussen, Misses Cussen. Personal. Mrs. Cowie invited all the members of the St. Peter's Guild to the “Vicarage” on Thursday last. Unfortunately, many were prevented from attending by country visitors at show time. Great pleasure is expressed that Dr. Douglas is to return to Hamilton at the end of this week, after his long enforced absence. Miss Dorothy Burd is paying a visit to Hamilton.
