May 9. Golf. The qualifying round for the Captain’s trophy (handicap bogey) was played on Thursday afternoon. The best B card on the day qualified for a trophy to be given by Airs. Evan Davis on the lines of the Donnelly Vase competition, namely, four rounds and a final. Some of the players were: Alesdames Gould, Davis, Bernau, Niell, Hector Smith, Pollock, Henley, Kelly, Snodgrass,” Misses Lipscomb, Campbell, Chapman, Snodgrass, AVilliams, Hetley, Sandtmann, Hindmarsb (2), Crosse, Wilson. Personal. Aliss Nina Headley has gone to Christchurch to visit her sister, Airs. Gerald Stead. Aliss Booth (Nelson), who has been staying with Mrs. A. O. Russell, returned home last week. Mrs. Mayne and family, who have been staying in Christchurch for some time, returned to Napier on Thursday.
