HAMILTON.

May 10. At Home. The first of this year’s series of “At Homes’’ in aid of the Hamilton Croquet Club was given by Mrs Tom Jolly on Friday last. The weather was decidedly wintry,, which made Mrs Jolly’s beautiful new home all the more delightfully cosy and inviting. Five Hundred was played in the drawing and dining rooms, Mrs Frank Jolly heading the list when scores were totalled, and Mrs Cork received the consolation prize. The hostess announced dining the afternoon that Mr Howdeu, the president, had donated a small silver cup as a points prize, which was to lie held by the winner until the next afternoon, until it was won three times in succession or four times at intervals. Mrs F. Jolly was thus the first holder of the cup. In addition to this the club is offering a points prize for the whole season, which will add to the fun. In the breakfast room a large number amused themselves by answering questions with the letters contained in “chrysanthemum,’’ Miss Gladys Stevens carrying off the prize.
