ROTORUA SANATORIUM GARDENS.

(These gardens are a delight to the many visitors to this famous sanatorium. The grounds arc kept in first-claes order, and nature haw been lavish with attractions which no other place enjoys. Not only are Howers grown largely, but vegetables form a considerable item in the

economy of Rotorua, and rightly so. Our photos represent a tine bed of Alien Craig onions, a variety of good shape, mild flavour and good size. It is very largely grown in the South Island, but not so well known in Auckland province, where Brown Spanish reigns supreme. Cabbages are also well grown at the sanatorium, as our photo will show. It is evident the gardens at Rotorua are in very capable hands. The only plant we observed needing renewal was phlox Drummondii, the chief colour being dull and rather washy. A fresh and up-to-date lot of seed would produce a much brighter and finer strain of flower heads.
