January 4. Week-end Party. A delightful week-end party was given by the Misses Grigg (Longbeach). Pienies, tennis, and daneing were the principal amusements provided. The guests ineluded the Misses Clifford (2), Rolleston, Rich, Sinclair-Thomson, Rhodes, Ogle, Knight, and Hamner, Messrs. Clifford, Kember, Rhodes, Rolleston, Rieh, Boyd, Barker (2), and Macdonald. Afternoen Tea. A small afternoon tea party was given on Monday by Miss Stella Murray, at Avonside, in honour of Miss Olivia Babington, who is shortly to be married. Tennis Parties. There have been some small tennis parties given during the week, the hostesses including Mrs. J. Morris (Armagh Street), Miss Lee (Papanui Road), and Miss Campbell (Avonside). Personal. Visitors to Christchurch include Mr. W. Massey and Miss Massey (Auckland). Dr. Chilton, Mrs. Chilton and son (Christchurch) have returned from a visit to England. Mr. and Mrs. M. Turrell (Wellington) are the guests of Miss Helmore (Christchurch). Mrs. 11. Rolleston (Wellington) is paying a visit to Mrs. Rolleston, Park Terrace. Mrs. Gerald Stead (Brackenfield) is the guest of Mrs. Stead, at “Strowan Park.” Miss A. Thomson (Orari) is staying with Miss Murray-Aynsley (Christchurch). Mrs. Norman and Miss Onslow (England) are the guests of Mrs. Onslow, Opawa. Miss Wilding, who has been paying a lengthened visit to England, has returned to Christchurch. The Misses Sanders (Christchurch) are visiting Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. A. Reeves (Christchurch) are spending the holidays at Lake Takapo. Judge Denniston and Mrs. Denniston (Christchurch) have left for Dunedin. Mrs. Loughnan (Christchurch) and party are caravaning to the West Coast. Mrs. J. C. Wilkin (Auckland) is in Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Reeves and family (Christchurch) are camping at Akaroa.’ Miss Ogle (Christchurch) is staying in Auckland. Mrs. and Miss Nancarrow (Christchurch) are staying at Mt. Hutt. Mrs. Bowden and her family have left Christchurch for England. Mrs. Waymouth, her son, and the Misses Bullen (Christchurch) are visiting the Cold Lakes. Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Palmer, who have been spending some time in Christchurch, have returned to Gisborne. Mrs. A. Campbell, Misses Kitson and Anderson (2), left Christchurch for Hawke’s Bay. Mrs. W. Moore and family (Christchurch) are staying at Sumner. Mrs. J. C. Palmer (Christchurch, her son, and party are camping at the Selwyn. Mrs. L. Harley and family (Christchurch) are staying at Sumner.

Miss Harley (Christchurch) has gone to Dunedin and the Southern Lakes.
