December 20t h. Concert. Madame Kirkby Lunn gave one concert in Wanganui. She had a very enthusiastic reception, and received several beautiful shower bouquets. Her frock was a beautiful emerald green charmeuse with overdress of the same toned ninon with tiny gold spots, the skirt had a wide band of gold embroidery bordering the ninon, and forming a pannier effect, the same on the front of the corsage, which was cut square, and in the front the ninon had a magnificent diamond ornament, the elbow sleeves were edged with gold embroidery. At Tennis. Afternoon , tea at the College tennis courts was provided on Saturday by Mrs Von tlaast and Mrs Hinue. Messrs Brodie, .Stevenson, Brettargh, Mcßeth, and others. Sports and Prize-giving. The Harworth sports-were heJ4 on Saturday, and were most enjoyable. There was a large attendance. Mrs. Barnicoat, of Wanganui, who has been for an extended’tour in England and Ireland, has returned to New Zealand, and is now staying in Wanganui, with her daughter, Mrs. Wall., Miss Darley. of Wanganui, left this week for a visit to friends in Auckland. Mrs. Wall, of Wanganui, has returned from her visit to Wellington. Miss Brabant, of Napier, is the guest of Mrs. John Andenson, in Wanganui. Dr. and Mrs. Bernau, of Napier, have been staying in Wanganui recently. Dr. and Mrs. Harding and Miss Harding, of Wellington, have been in Wanganui. Mi-. Bartmi, of Hawera, has. been staying in Wanganui recently: Miss Moore, of Hawera, has been in Wanganui for a few days. Mrs. Kissling, of Manaia, who has been the guest of Mrs. John Stevenson and Mrs. H. F. Christie, in Wanganui, has returned to her home. Mrs. Chas. Goodson, of Hawera, has been staying in Wanganui recently. Mrs. Coverdale (Wellington) is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Hawkin, in •Wanganui.
