AUSTRALIAN JOCKEYS IN ENGLAND.
R. Wootton, the well-known horse trainer, has arrrived here on a flying visit Ho strenuously denies the report that he Id* tends returning to Australia permanently, as a result of the treatment of his son lif England. He said: ’‘There is too much money there f<r me to do that.” The reason for the general success of Australian Jockeys in England, he said, was that they had more “devil” in them than the others. He considers that the Australian stayerfl may be superior to the English, because of the hard way they are trained and their better lung power, but the Australian sprinters are not in it with the English.
