t December 6. At Home. An “At Home” was given on Friday afternoon by Mrs. C. Cooper. The large number of guests who were present spent a most enjoyable afternoon. Mrs. ( doper wore a be -oming frock of peacockblue cloth with cream lace yoke and handsome embroidery. Amongst those present were: Mr-. George Rhodes, wearing a tailor-made costume of pale blue cloth, black and blue hat with marabout feathers: Airs. A breaking-up evening party was given by Mi*s Cox at “Te \\ hare." w hen the pupils of her dancing class and their parents were present. The programme included Morris dance*, Highland flings, minuets, a Persian dance, skirt dancing, marching and exercises, all of which were admirably performed. andra Han, on the evening of her daughter’s marriage to Mr. Russell, of Victoria. The hostess wore a lovely gown of mauve satin, with cut steel embroideries nnd overdress of rich lace. Miss Rutherford, Miss Ethel Rutherford (sisters of the bride), and Miss Holmes wore their bridesmaids’ frocks, which were particularly pretty and original, being composed of soft net over silk, trained skirts with deep lace flounces, panelled and partly veiled with maize, pale blue, and shell-pink ninon, beautifully arranged and blended together. They wore the bridegroom's gifts of pearl and enamel brooches, and on their hair dainty Wreaths of tiny flowers corresponding with their frocks. Mrs. A. W. Rutherford, jun., wore a beautiful frock of pale shell-pink satin; Mrs. L. A. [Navy League Bazaar The Navy League bazaar, which was opened on Tuesday afternoon by the Hon. Heaton Rhodes, proved an immense attraction, particularly during the evening, when the march-past by girls dressed in uniforms, copied from some of the British regiments, took place. Displays were given by men from If.M.S. Cambrian. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. B. Tripp (Orari Gorge) have returned to Christchurch from England. Miss B. Payne (Christchurch) has returned from South Canterbury. Mrs. Archer (Christchurch), with her son and daughter, have left for England.
Mrs. F. M. B. Fisher, who has been visiting friends in Christchurch, has returned to Wellington.
Mrs. Nancarrow (Christchurch) has returned from a visit to Mt. Hutt.
Mrs. F. Nancarrow and Miss N. Campbell have arrived from Greymouth. Mrs. C. Dalgety (Christchurch) is in (Dunedin.
Mrs. Stead (Christchurch) is spending a short time at her seaside residence in Sumner.
Mrs. I*. M. Wallace, who has been staying with friends in Christchurch, has returned to the North Island, prior to her departure for England. * Mrs. Harold Hesse (Wanganui) is the guest of Mrs. Finch, at Dudley Creek, Christchurch.
Miss Loughman (Christchurch) is in Wellington, staying with friends. Mrs. Russell and Miss Fotheringham (Victoria) are visiting Christchurch.
Miss Muling (Christchurch) is staving with friends in Timaru.
