THE WONDERFUL MOSQUE OF ST. SOFIA. This famous mosque is in the form of a Greek cross- the four arms of equal length—with a vast dome in the centre. It is estimated to be about 1,400 years old, during which time it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. Many of its beautiful mosaics still tell of its Christian past, though for more than four centuries it has been used as a Mohammedan mosque.
