CANTERBURY’S GREAT SUMMER SHOW.-NEARLY FORTY THOUSAND PEOPLE ON THE GROUND.
The Canterbury A. and I*. Association's annual carnival, the bigpest thing of the kind in the Dominion, attracted almost forty thousand spectators on “People’s Day.’’ The top panorama gives a faint idea of the crowds which thronged the grounds, The second picture is a corner of the machinery section. Lady Islington shares some of his Excellency's enthusiasm for matters agricultural. She was an interested spectator last Friday, specially in the jumping contests. On her right is Sir George (’lifford. one of the best known pastoralists in New Zealand, and in front is Mr J. D. Hall, the Canterbury A. ami P. president.
