GISBORNE.
October 28. Afternoon Tea. On Monday Mrs W. Smith gave a most enjoyable tea at her residence, “The Pines,” Whataupoko. Some of those present were: Misses Smith, Wilberforce, Faulkner (2), Murray, Davies, Evans, de Lautour (2), Schumacher, Coleman, Maclaurin and Bull. At the Theatre. At His Majesty’s Theatre on Monday night “The Geisha” was staged by the Gisborne Amateur Operatic Society. The theatre was filled to its utmost capacity by a large and enthusiastic audience. Amongst those present I noticed: Mr and Mrs W. R. Barker, Mr, Mrs and the Misses Nolan, Mr and Mrs F. Barker, Mr and Mrs C. A. Fenwick, Mr and Mrs Preston, Mr, Mrs and Miss Dodgshun, the Misses Davies, Mr and Mrs L. Muir, Dr and Mrs Scott, Mrs and Miss Murray, Dr and Mrs Reeves, Mr, Mrs and Miss Coleman, Mr and Mrs Kissling, Dr and Mrs Williams, Mr, Mrs and the Misses Busby, Mr and Miss Graham, Mrs and Miss Crawford, Mr, Mrs, and Miss Wallis. Personal. Mrs Duke Shields (Hastings) is on a visit to Gisborne. Mrs Agnew Brown has gone on a visit to Wellington. Mrs Ralph Murphy (Panikau) -is in town for the Show. Mrs Flood (Hawke's Bay) is on a visit to Gisborne. Mr and Mrs J. W. Nolan returned home on Sunday. Miss Wilberfoows (Wellington) is the guest of Mrs William Smith, “The Pines,” Whataupoko.
