dist) made several presentations from the Maoris, consisting of three handsome dress mats, a greenstone pendant mounted in gold, a kiwi kit, an ainokuri feather, and several flax. kits. Dr Paterson was invested in the mats by Airs Niino on the stage. Songs were sung during the evening by Aliss Urquhart, Aliss Alacalisfer, Airs Edmonds, Airs Lucena, and Messrs D. McCormick and Valentine. Aliss Chambers played all the accompaniments. As a wind up to the enthusiastic gathering, ‘‘Auld Lang Syne” was sung, ami followed by ‘‘She's a Jolly Good Fellow." with musical 1 honours. Personal. Airs Paterson arrived last week to assist Dr. Paterson to pack, and remove Miss Paterson from the local hospital, where she has been for >ome time, they leave to-day for Wellington en route for Dunedin.
