August 3. Social Club. A most sue esssful evening was given by the Winter Social Club on Tuesday evening, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. 1). R. CaldweH. kindly lent by them to the Hub for tneir entertainments. A dainty sapper was provided by Mr*. E. E. Roberta and Mess Weils. Mr. B. Cooper made a capital secretary, and had prepared an excellent programme. In the first part a clever duologue, entitled. "Ringing t.>e Changes," was given by M:*s Dunue and Dr Roberta. Mrs. Caldwell received her guests in a lovely gown of grey satin, with tune and bodice of grey ninou over white net, the bodice trisimel with very handson;* grey trmmir.g with ball fringe, and at her wal-t she wore a large cerise rose; Mize Vida Cwidwei), a meat becoming frock of white satin, with a tunic vandyked at the edge, and trjnmed with beaded trimming in shades of blue and Cerise, the white satin underskirt had a bands of the finest guipure lace, on Which the tunic rested, the bodice had eam* vandyed effect with guimpe white net; Miss Eileen Buekleton , a pink and cream floral Toile, with « fic.-u of ereatA lace; Mrs.
Hally, a very handsome grey poplin gown, trimmc 1 with deep s.ik fringe and silver apjlique, and a white scarf; Mr*. E. E. Roberts, Mack silk gown, bodi e trimmed with jet, and vest of lovely Limerick laee, and some shaded pink roes on her corsage; Mr*. B. Couper, black erepe de chine, over satin, bodice outlined with Oriental trimming, and a lovely bun h of violets on her eorsage, and a beaten silver and white scarf; Mrs. V. oil. a lovely gown of white satin, with tanie and bodice of gold beaded ninon, the decolletage outlined with g- Id embroidery’, and bead* and a handsome gold girdle; Mr*. Merideth, a be-joining frock of grey ninon, over satin, trimmed with oxidized applique. and a black and Paisley scarf; M:- E. Fraser, in a dainty wri te satin, with over-dre*« of pale blue ninon, and a .: :e arid s iver bandeau in her hair; MA* Landon, a pretty emerald-green fr<xk: Mis* Veils, an embroidered pineapple silk, over ereme satin; Miss H. We'.;*, a smart white satin, with tunic of white ninon, edged with silver fringe, and a cameo pink dewdrop scarf; Miss Dunne, elegant pale pink eharmeuse, with bodice arid sleeves of white guipure la<e. veiled with pink ninon; Mr*. G.ubons. v.eux ro*e gown, with touches of black: M.,s Key*, blue voile, with satin stripe, Late Mr Dyer. On a-vount of the sudden death (from heart failure) of Mr. R. C. Dyer, one of the most respected and esteemed resident* of Cam Tldge. several social event* were postponed, and quite a gloom was cast over the town. He was headmaster of me public s ’tool here for some year*, and hundreds of the young people have been taught by him.
