THOUSANDS OF AUCKLANDERS HONOUR THE MEMORY OF THE LATE SIR JOHN LOGAN CAMPBELL.
A fitting resting-place was chosen for the late Sir John Logan Campbell in the crest of Maungakiekie. the historic mount which overlooks the scenes of his early activities ami the great park which will over be remembered as Sir John's most magnificent gift to Auckland. The funeral was the largest that has ever gone out of Auckland, and, In addition to the Ido vehicles which formed the procession, thousands of people Joined in and followed on foot, so that the road was black with people. Part of the big crowd which Hued the crest of Maungakiekie during the burial ceremony. (2) The scene at the graveside on the top of Maungakiekie. (3) The statue of the late Sir John Logan Campbell at Cornwall Park, on the day of the funeral. (4) The scene at the graveside. Canon McMurray, who conducted the service, is seen on the right.
