STRANDED AT GISBORNE-THE STAR OF CANADA IN A DANGEROUS POSITION.
The Tyser Company's steamer Star of Canada, a vessel of 7250 tons gross register, was driven ashore nt Stony Point, Gisborne, on the night of .lune 23, during a heavy gale, ami was stranded on a reef, with the result that the hull was damaged ami water appeared to a considerable depth In Nos. 1. 2 ami 3 holds. Powerful pumps have been got to work, but nt the time of writing the prospects of salving the vessel were less hopeful. The cargo, which Includes sttfst carcases of Gisborne meat, Is being rapidly discharged into lighters. (1) The Star of Canada is here seen with the Union Company's tug Terawliiti alongside.
