CAMBRIDGE.
June 15a Bridge Party. On Thursday evening Mrs A. H. Nicoll entertained a few friends at progressive bridge, when a most enjoyable time was spent. Immense heads of hydrangea were massed in the drawing-room on the mantelpiece and pianrt. A very dainty supper was served at the close of the evening. Miss Jay won the ladies' first prize, and Mr Jay the gentlemen’s. Mrs Nicoll received her guests in a graceful gown of silver ninon, with a touch of cerise: Mrs B. Couper. pale blue silk blouse, trimmed with tiny shells, and white silk skirt; Mrs (Dr.) Roberts, green and white striped silk, trimmed with green velvet, and guimpe of embroidered chiffon: Mrs Mervyn Wells, white satin gown, the deeolletage finished with pearl trimming; Mrs Marshall, a lovely gown of creme shot satin, with panels of roses and overdress of creme silk Tosca net braided with bronze brown; Miss Jay, pale blue ninon frock trimmed with silver, and tucked net yoke and undersleeves; Miss Attfield, black velvet frock, with white net yoke and uudersleeves trimmed with black buttons; Miss Gwynneth. silver grey satin eharmeuse relieved with old rose: Miss Hally, white embroidered muslin; Miss Wells, a most uncommon dress of primrose ninon over vieux rose silk, and handsomely trimmed with oriental trimming. Presentation. On Monday evening a function of a very pleasing nature tqok place at "Bardowie,’! when the employees of Mr James Taylor assembled at the homestead to make a presentation to Miss Taylor bn the eve of her approaching marriage to Mr Meredith. The donors were Messrs Robert Ferguson, IL Rae, W. McLeod, E. Cliffcli. W. Denton, G. Welch, T. Medhurst, ami Bert Thorpe. The presentation (a handsome silver’tea and coffee s«rvive) was made by Mr Robert Ferguson. an employe of thirty years’ standing. Mr Ferguson expressed the great pleasure it gave them all to give some token of the high esteem in which Miss Taylor ami her. parents . were held by them. Mr Taylor returned thanks to his n - cn for their expression of goodwill and kindly act. -- '•
Per««*al> Miss Dunne has gone to Auckland for jmr holiday, and is staying with her cousin, Mrs A. B. Herrold, Remuera. Miss Judy Barnett is staying at ‘'BaraQw|e” for Miss Taylor’s wedding.
