CHRISTCHURCH.
Canterbury Championship. The sixth annual tournament of the Christchurch Golf Club was played at the Shirley links during Easter. The greens were true, but were very fast.* The course generally, though iu good Older, was rather hard, owing to the. recent dry weather. The first round of the competition for the Championship of Canterbury was played, and concurrently a Medal Handicap. B. B. Wood won the Championship. The Medal Han dicap played concurrently in this round was won by Trolove. The best scores for the championship of Canterbury were:—-B. B. Wood, 76 and 80, lot.il 1.56; B. C. Rutherford, 83 and 79, total 162; J. Forbes, 83 and 84, total 167; E. T. Shores, 83 and 84, total 167; H. R. Brittan, 83 and 85, total 168; I’. Trolove, 79 and 92, total 171. total 168: P. Trolove. 79 and 92, total 171.
The championship ot Canterbury is therefore won by B. B. Worn], with B. C. Rutherford runner-up. The medal played for concurrently in the second round went to W. P. Dryden.
