NEW PLYMOUTH.

March 16 th. Afternoon Tea. ■Last Monday Miss. L. Brown gave a most enjoyable afternoon tea in the Pukekura Park tea rooms. Amongst those present were:—Miss Standish, Miss C. Bayley. Miss McKellar, Miss Wade. Miss Brewster, Miss Kyngdon, Miss Roy, Miss Mathews,, Miss Blundell, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Weston, Mrs. Standish, Mrs. Home. Bridge Parties. Mrs. Bennett, of Blenheim, is being entertained at a number of bridge party contests. Last Wednesday Mrs. H. Baily gave one in her honour. The Misses Henipton also gave a most enjoyable one last week, and amongst those present were: —Mesdanies Paul, W. Bayly, Noble, Newman, Bennett. Haworth, J. Hempion, and Misses Testar and Bayly. Last Thursday Miss Standish gave a very pleasant bridge party, and the guest or honour was again Mrs. Bennett. Miss C. Bayly won the first prize. The hostess received her guests in a black and white striped eolienne, inset with lace. Mrs. Bennett was much admired in black satin, with a ninon tunic, lightly touched with emerald green. Miss Blundell, reseda green silk; Miss D. Bedford, white muslin, profusely trimmed with lace; Miss <?. Bayly, pink and white floral taffetas. eream lace chemisette: Miss Wade, violet hand-painted chiffon; Miss G. Shaw, cream silk ; Miss S. Thomson, reseda green silk, trimmed with dull gold guimpe; Miss McKellar. black silk. Personal. Mrs. McKellar is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Abraham, at Khandallah. Wellington. Mrs. Cruickshank, New Plymouth. has gone for a trip to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Stow, Lyttelton, who have been visiting New Plymouth, have left on a visit to Rotorua.

Mr. and Mrs. Dryden, who have been on a visit to Sydney, have returned to New Plymouth, and the former, as postmaster, has just received notice of transfer to Napier. Mrs. Glenn, Hawera, passed through New Plymouth on her way to Auckland. Mr. 11. Brewer, late of H.M. Customs, Wellington, paid New* Plymouth a short visit on his way to Auckland. Mrs. Rule and Mrs. Gillies, who have been the guests of Mrs. Cunningham, New Plymouth, have returned to Christchurch.
