February 8. Tennis and Cm<iiiet. A beautifully fine day, and “Bachelors* Tea,” resulted- in a- good attendance of visitors and players at the Courts on Saturday. Several very interesting tennis and croquet matches were played in conneetion with the local tournaments, which are being hurried up jnst now while the line weather lasts. Among those present were. Mestfames Hnrtgill, Botrell. Lloyd, Giesen, Mackay Robertshaw, Russell, Cowper. Nymana, Vartan, Misses Robertshaw, Cowper, Barker, Irvine, Knight. Baker Biuklmrst, McGregor, Hartgill, Willian-.s (Sydney), Pollen (Napier) Lethbridge (Wanganui). Rangatira Club.
The R-angatira eroquet club opened their two new courts on Wetfnesday in ideal croquet weather. Since the commencement of the season two small courts only have been playable, btit with the addition of these two large ones there will never be any fear of not getting as much play as one desires. •Mesdames Soundy and HartgiH dispensed delicious afternoon tea to a number of visitors and players, amongst whom

Mrs. Mair sen., Whangarei. is ths guest of Mr. and Mrs.'Leslie Mair. Miss McVay, who has been spending her summer holidays with Mrs. Dr. Dawpen, left for Napier on Saturday. Miss Lethbridge, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs. ,W. G. Hartgill. Miss Maysmor, Wellington, is staying With her sister, Mrs. 11. Hunter.
There are to be changes in the firm of Dalgety and Vo. shortly, Mr. If. Wood, who has been manager of the Danne* virke Branch for some years, and Mr. C. Napier, accountant, have both been transferred to Napier. Their positions in the firm will be taken by Mr. Hockley from Napier, and Mr. Somerville, of llastuma>„ Mr. TfrTtfthpson, who has been on the Flail of the Bank of New South Wales for about five years, has been transferred to New Plymouth. Miss Belle Robertson returned on Saturday from Tasmania where she spent her summer vacation. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Simmers returned from the South on Saturday after spending a most enjoyable holiday.
-Mrs. Ferrier Walker and Miss Myra Tansley have been spending a few weeks In Paikakarika.
Miss AL Pollen, Napier, is the guest of Mrs. Gordon Lloyd. (Miss A. Soundy has returned from a pleasant holiday spent in Auckland.
Mr. G. Ollivier, the tennis champion }s spending a few days with friends in Man nevi rke.
Mrs. W. T. Irvine is away in Welling ton.
Mrs. B. Wliiteorabe is also in Welling ton for a few weeks.
Miss Molly Cowper, who has been spending an enjoyable holiday in Auckland and Rotorua, returned home on (Saturday.
• Dr. and Mrs. Coates, who have been residing -in Dannevirke for some time, leave on Saturday for a trip to England and America.
Mrs. McDonald, Christchurch, is visiting her sons, Messrs. R. and D. McDonald.
