EXPANSION IN TARANAKI—WAITARA, AN IMPORTANT MEAT-SHIPPING PORT OF THE PROVINCE.
The township of Waitara, eleven miles east by rail from New Plymouth, has been steadily growing in recent years, and the port is now an important outlet for frozen meat and dairy produce. The photograph shows the wharf, the scow Echo, and steamers Tainui, Manukau, and I’itoitoi.
