CHINAS ORDEAL BY FIRE AND SWORD—WHAT WILL RISE FROM THE ASHES?
Napoleon said that when China moved it would change the face of the world. Time alone can tell whether Napoleon was it true prophet. The first photograph is a picture of the burning of Hankow native city by the Imperial troops, in revenge for having k»t the place in November. The blaze succeeded a terrific bombardment lasting four days. In the lower picture some Imperial artillery are seen in action near Hankow. Inset on the right is a portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, the •Chinese Garibaldi.” on whose head a price of £50,000 was set, and who is now president of the world’s largest ami newest republic. On the left is a portrait of General Li Yuen Hung, the intrepid leader of the so-called ‘’rebel” forces.
