January 12. Lawn Tennis. There was a large attendance on the Marlborough Lawn Tennis grounds, afternoon tea being provided by the club. Among those present were: Mrs. Griffith?, Airs. Bennett, Airs. Sharp, Mrs. R. McCallum, Airs. Brock, Airs. Scott, Mrs. Maclaine, All’s. A. Mouat, Airs. B. (Houston, Airs. Bagge, Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Orr. Aliases AlcLauchlin, Horton, Neville (2), Robson (Christchurch), Urquhart, Jenkins, Houston, Smith, Skinner (2), Shaw (New Plymouth), AVinstanley, Chapman, Messrs. Grace, Brock. Sharp. Golding, Bramall, AVhitmore, Horton, Jenkins, McDonald (England), Hulme, AViffen and Dr. Anderson. Moonlight Picnic. A most enjoyable moonlight river picnic was held last Saturday evening on the bank of the Opawa .river. On arrival. a large camp fire was lit, the billy boiled, and a sumptuous tea served. After that songs were sung round the <ainp fire. Among those present were: Mrs, Nortlicroft, Airs. Cheek, Alisses Northcroft, Jenkins, (Houston, AA'olferstan, Reid, Alead, Cheek, Me-brs. O, ilead, Mackay, Bramall, Jenkins, and Appleby. PerionaL Mr. and Mrs. F. Dillon left on Saturday for AVellington. Mr. E. J. Thompson has returned from a lengthy visit to the Old <!ouwtry. He is now visiting his old friends in Marlborough.

Mrs. Bennett lias returned from spending a few days in Pieton. Mr. and Airs. S. Florence have returned from visiting friends in the North Island.

Miss Morgan, who has been visiting Mrs. Neville, left for Christchurch on Sat urdav.

Mr. and Airs. Strachan have returned from AVellington.

Miss F. Macallister, Pieton, is visiting her sister, Mrs. AA'icks, “Springlands."

Miss Shaw and Miss Mathews (New Plymouth) are the guests of Mrs. Skinner, AVeld-street.

Misses Eyes {C'hnist-ehureli) are the guests of Mrs. Duckworth, I’e.rcy-streef. Mr. and Mrs. B. (Houston, have returned from Pelorus Sound. Mr. I*. Adams (Nelson) has been visiting his brother, Air. AV. Adams, “Ixmglev Dale.”

Airs. Maclaine has returned from spending a few days in Picton. Air. Claude Mills lias returned from AVellington. Air. and Mrs. H. Munro, who have been visiting Air. and Airs. GouHer, “ Hawkesbury,” have returned to their home at Ward.

Air. and Airs. J. Sharp, who have been staying with Air. and Airs. Trolove, “The Shades,” passed, through Blenheim on their way to Nelson on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson-Smith have returned from a lengthy holiday to Australia.
