Traill. Keen interest was taken in the event, which attracted a large number of spectators to the links. The game was a good one, and resulted in Geof. Wiilock defeating his opponent by 3 up and 1 to play. The play was not quite so good as in the 1910 match between Dtodgshun and P. Keilm. Traill was weak with his approach shots, and did not show the same good form as earlier in the season. Wiilock played consistently, and never missed one shot off the tee. His exhibition on this occasion was better than when he met P. Kedia two years ago. The driving of both contestants was splendid. Up to the M* teenth hole the game was very* even. Wiilock had two particularly lucky ap* proachs at the next two holes, which lie finished *» three each, thus deciding the game. At the 18th hole Traill made a powerful drive, sending his ball right across ‘ Norlhcote road, a performance which has only been accomplished, once or twice this season. In his putts liai was unfortunate, but had the lack m laying his opponent three stymies. An iuciden which caused a good dea of comment occurred at the thirteen •bole, when some of the followers cons,), ered that Willock’s play was wrungHe required two to halve and one o win. but his play proved, in the opin'O ll of the older players, that lie did ng* in playing for the hole with a chan c o halving, and it was only by »>’ e r r %.,° judgment that he did not succeed. 11 detail scores were as follows: — First Round.—Wiilock: Out—> r >*’ , ' t ’ 554—421 1n—454665456 — 45; total, Traill:. 0ut—5—542.5465—; In- 543i64a •45—43. ‘ ' 'Second Round.—Wiilock: 24455—42; 1n—446664335—41.
