SIR JOSEPH AND EADY WARD’S FAREWELL AT HOME. NOTABLE GATHERING AT THE CECIL. (From Our Special Correspondent.) LONDON, July 14. On Monday afternoon—the eve of their departure for New Zealand—tlie Prime Minister and Lady Ward were “At Home” at the Hotel Cecil, and from four till six o’clock, the Grand and Victoria Halls were thronged with guests regretfully saying farewell to the popular host and hostess. New Zealanders were there, of course, in force, and many well known English political and social lights as well: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Harcourt, Viscountess Falmouth, Lord Kinnaird, the Lord and Lady Mayoress, the chairman of the London County Council, the Earl of Ranfurly. Lady Beerbohm Tree, Madame Clara Butt, Mr. Kennerley Rumford, and Mrs. St. Loe Strachey among others. Lady Ward received her guests in a very becoming gown of cream eolienne trimmed with rich silk insertion, a large black plumed hat and black ostrich boa. Miss Ward, standing beside her mother, was in white ninon trimmed with insertion, a balue charmeuse sash, and a large cream hat.
