The New Z-aland i ••oiintiy < hampionship was derided at Auckland on Saturday afternoon, a fast, exciting race resulting. G. N. Hill, the Auckland and New Zea. and champion, won the individual New Zealand championship, and Otago the pro \invial ••■tins championship. The race was over a course of about live miles, starting at the Ellerslie course, covering three miles over the steeplechase course, and then across country to Alexandra Park. The finishing times of the first three were G N Hill • Amklandt. ,‘12.15: .1. P.eatsoii jOtagoi, 32.302; G. G Notman tOtagoi, 33.39. The, sealed handicaps in connection with the event resulted: ,|. Beatson (Otago), 1; It. R. Thompson (Otago), 2: G. G. Notman (Otago), 3. The Provincial ('hampionship resulted: Otago, 15 points. ]; Auckland, 30 points, 2: Wellington, 38 points, 3. Hj Without exception the field got into the middle of tin* waler jump, being well soaked when they got out. (2) G. N. Hill finishing. (3) The Wellington team, ill The Otago team. (5) The Auckland representatives.
