May 4. Bridge Party. On Monday evening Miss Brewer gave a bridge party i honour of Mrs.,'l,. Bloomfield, of Am: ■! who has been staying in Wangam.i for some time. There were three table.*, apd the first pyiz«s were won by Mrs - . H. Sergeant and -Mrs'.’' Maysack (Auckland)'. Amoifg*t tliose present were: An's: Montgome’ne, Mrs.' A. Izard, Mrs. If. Miss Brewer also gave another bridge party on the following evening for Miss
Molly Cowper, of Dannevirke. who rs the guest of Mr*. E. CowpeY. in Wanganui. There were' five tables, and the prizes were won by Mies Linda Barnard Browne and Mr. R. Stevenson. Amongst those present were; Miss Brettargh. Miss I>. Brettargh. Miss Cowper, Miss Gould (Auckland). Miss L. Barnard Browne, Miss Stevenson, Miss Christie, Miss Brewer. Messrs. Stevenson, Chamberlain, Brettargh, Chamberlain, and others. Golf. The Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club opened their season on the Bclinont links on Wednesday, 2tith, when a match was played between the captain's v. secretary's team*. The former were victorious. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. and Miss Darley. Amongst thqse present were: Mrs. Good. Mrs. H. Sarjent, Miss Cave, Miss Darley. Mrs. Darley, Miss Anderson. Mrs. Meldrum. Miss Parsons, Miss Stevenson, Miss Dy mock', Miss Cowper, Mrs. Clay. Surprise Party. On Wednesday evening, at Mrs. Anderson’s, “Barningham,” Aramoho, there was a surprise party, when dancing and all kinds of games were indulged in. A large number went out in a brake from town. Amongst those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Izard, Mr. and Mrs. Addison, Miss Christie. Miss G. Christie, Miss Brettargh. Miss D. Brettargh. Miss Tellbridge, Miss Spencer, Miss M. Lethbridge, Miss Ashcroft, Miss E. Anderson, Miss G. Anderon, Miss H. Anderson, Miss M. Anderson, Messrs. Stevenson, M. Lethbridge, G. Lethbridge, G. Palmer, G. Anderson, E. Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. H. Lethbridge, and others. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. Breeds, of Pahiatua, have been the guests, of Mr. and Mrs. D. Lethbridge, Turakina. Mrs. L. Bloomfield, of Auckland, who has been staying in Wanganui, has returned to her home. Mr. and Mrs. Shackleton, of Pahiatua, have been staying in Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. John Lethbridge, of Hawke’s Bay, have been staying in Wanganui. Mrs. Marsack, of Auckland, who has been staying in Wanganui with her father, Mr. John Watt, has returned to her home. Miss J. Marshall, of Marton, has been staying in Wanganui. Mr. H. Good, of Wanganui, has gone for a visit to Australia for a few weeks.
