MANAWATU.

The season of the Manawatu Club opened on April 22nd with mixed foursomes. There was a good muster of players and very fair golf was played for an opening game. The course was over fourteen holes. The winners were F. Seifert and Mrs F. Seifert, 78—13— 65, who were closely followed by 11. G. Moore and Miss Moore, 74—»—66, and C. Adams and Mrs Adams, 83—17—66. The ladies side of the club held its first stroke competition on Tuesday, April 25, Miss G. McLennan and Mrs. Beale kindly giving trophies to the seniors and juniors respectively. The weather was unkind; heavy rain fell all the morning and prevented many from playing, though the afternoon turned out fairly fine. The senior trophy was won by Mrs F. Mcßae with a net score of 90 and Miss Wray, Mrs. Melsopp and Mrs F. Seifert tied for second place with net 100. The junior trophy went to Mrs Bendall, 106—8—98 (13 hole course), with Miss Coombs second, 107—2—105.
