HASTINGS.

April 5. A New System. A pleasant evening was passed on Tuesday in St. Matthew’s Hall. It is the intention of the vestry of St. Matthew's to organise a new system here in order to keep more in touch with the church members 'and also to bring the fresh people coining to the parish into the congregation. They purpose arranging different parties of ladies and gentlemen to make friendly calls among the parishioners for that purpose.

Fer»naL Mrs. Morris Mason has returned from a holiday down South. Mrs. Clarke purposes remaining in Christchurch for an indefinite time. She is much improved in health. Miss A. Cross has gone to Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Williams are the guests of Mrs. Ormond, "Karamu," Hastings. Mr. and Mrs. Litton (Englands have been spending a few days in Hastings. Air. Geo. Smythe has left for the South en route for the Southern Lakes. Mr. and Mrs. G. Beamish have returned to Whana Whana. They purpose taking a trip to the Waitomo Caves at Easter. Mrs. Peddie is residing in Feilding. Miss Peddie is staying with Mrs. Jack Miller for a few weeks.
