April 7th. Afternoon Tea. Mrs. Adam McDonald dispensed afternoon tea at the Linton-street Tennis Courts on Saturday last. Mrs. McDon aid wore a white linen frock and a cream straw hat with black silk bows; Miss Dundas, white embroidered muslin, hat wreathed with pink roses; Miss Rond, grey check frock, large black hat lined with pale blue and trimmed with blaek wings; Miss Smith, white linen frock, hat with mauve satin ribbon, and mauve flowers: Mrs. McKnight. velvet coat and skirt, black silk scarf, black slk toque with silver band; Mrs. Spencer, white linen coat and skirt, hat with black silk bows; Mrs. Moodie in white, hat trimmed with silk and wings; Miss Randolph, blaek braided coat and skirt, blaek hat • with silk and winks; Miss Randolph, grey eoat and skirt braided in g: ey, blaek hat with blaek -wings; Miss Warburton. white frock, hat swathed with pale pink ninon; Miss Dorothy Waldegrave, fawn linen braided in same shade, hat with navy and green Paisley scarf; Miss Preece, cornflower blue liner, coat and skirt, black hat with cream laee bows; Miss Hayward, white linen coat and skirt, hat with biack silk trimming; Mrs. Ehot. green striped coat and skirt, blaek hat with tulle and feathers; .Mrs. Pickett, white embroidered muslin coat and skirt, white ostrich feather boa, floral hat; Mr and Mrs. A. D. Thompson. Miss Wilson,. Mrs. Adams, Miss Armstrong, Miss Porter, Miss Watson, and several others. Progressive Euchre. Mrs. H. F. Gibbons entertained a party of friends at progressive euchre last Monday night. Mrs. W. Keeling and Mrs. Morrah were the prize winners. Mrs. Gibbons wore a becoming green cliarnteuse toilette; Mrs. Morrah, pale blue taffeta affectively trimmed with cream
lace; Mrs. W. Harden, black erepe de chine, with cream ebiffea insertion trimming eo mage: .Miss Trixie Waldegrave, blaek crepe de chine. with broad blaek satin hem, touches of white on corsage; Miss D. Waldegrave, white muslin aud lace; Mias Warburton, cream and pink

Dr. and Mrs. Wilson leave this week on a trip to England. Miss Marjory Barnicoat has returned from a long visit to Foxton to her cousin, Mrs. M oodward. Mr. and Mrs. Pascoe and Miss Pa-'coe have returned from Te Aroha; also Mrs. Harman, who was one of their party. < Mrs. F. Riddiford and .Miss Cushla ißiddiford, are leaving for England almost immediately. • Mrs. A. N. Gibbons and children are back from a long stay at the Foxton beach. Miss Porter spent a few days last week in Wellington. Miss Gibbons (Wanganui), (is the guest of Mrs. F. E. Watson.
