April 7. Bridge Party. Last Saturday evening Mrs C. Waney gave a most enjoyable bridge party In honour of Mrs A. D. Gray. The" prizes were won by Mrs Fitzherbert (first) and M iss Bradbury (second). The hostess received her guests in a soft cream crystalline, finished with folds of silk; Mrs Alexander, rich purple velvet, trimmed with lovely silver sequined trimming; Mrs A. D. Baily, blaek silk grenadine. The Misses Hempton gave a small bridge party last Monday evening, In honour of Airs Arthur Hempton. Afternoon Tea. Last Saturday afternoon a farewell afternoon tea was given to Miss Ethel Leatham prior to her marriage, which is to take place on tae 26th inst., by the members of the West End Tennis Club. During the afternoon progressive tennis was indulged in, with the final results of Aliss Thomson and Mr Nicholson receiving first honours. Short speeches were made by Dr. Home (vice-president) and Dr. Leatham ( president). Mrs. Grant, prior to her leaving for a trip to the Old Country, gave a most enjoyable dance in the Brougham-street Hall last Tuesday evening. The supper table was prettily decorated with pink and white cosmos and pale pink larkspur. Aliss Harrison left last week for a trip to the Old Country. Mr. AL Fraser with a team of New Plymouth bowlers, left last Friday by the s.s. Rarawa, en route for Sydney. Aliss Corkill left last week for Wellington, where she was to eatch the Ruahine for London. She was accompanied to Wellington by her father (Air. P. C. Corkill). Mrs. and Aliss G. Fookes (New Plymouth) have gone for a trip to Rotorua and Auckland. Mr. and Airs. A. D. Gray left last Afonday for their future home in Auckland. Airs. Crawford and Afrs. J. Harvey, who have been on a visit to Rotorua, have returned to New Plymouth. Air. and Airs. Quilliam are on a visit to Rotorua and Auckland.
