ROTORUA.
March 25. Much-needed and refreshing rain fell this week, and the effect on the atmosphere is delightful. There are. a good many visitors here, but socially things are very quiet. Mrs. Flower, of the Bank of New Zealand, invited a number of friends to afternoon tea on the day prior to the departure of her mother ami sister (Mrs. ami Miss Cresswell) for Christchurch, It was a perfect afternoon, and tea was served on the balcony. The Tauranga croquet players are arriving on the 27th, and our club hopes to maintain the reputation it made for itself at the South Auckland tournament in Cambridge this month. The many friends of Mr. Benn will the sorry to hear that he lies seriously ill at Okareka. Personal. Dr. Endletzberger, of Rotorua, has gone to Palmerston North to act as locum tenens for Dr. Wilson during his trip Home. Mrs. Rattray, of Dunedin, is at the Grand. Mr. Inderman (Tonga) is visiting Rotorua, and staying at.the Geyser Hotel. Mrs. Keesing (Auckland) is at Grande Vue. Mr. ami Mrs. Putman, of Hamilton, are staying at Waiwera House. Mr. Bowles (traffic manager. Auckland railways) and Mrs. Bowles are at Waiwera House. The Hon. T. Thompson an 1 Captain Hardy, of Canterbury, are fishing on Take Rotorua, and having excellent sport. Mr. Pope, of Wellington, is here. The Hon. W. M. Macfarlane. Comp-troller-General of the New South Wales Prisons’ Department, and Mr. A. Dalrymple Hay, Director of State Forestry in New South Wales, are visiting Rotorua. Captain and Mrs. Ferguson, who have been fishing at Taupo, are stayirig at the Grand, Rotorua. Mr., Mrs. and Miss Greenfields, of Hastings, are staying at Brents, Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas, of Hawke’s Ray, are at the Grand. Mr. and Mrs. Elgar, of Featherston, •re motoring in the thermal district, •nd hare been etavinj in Rolorna RATA.
