March ii. Farewell Tea. On Monday afternoon, Mrs. Ridley Cooke entertained a large number of friends at her residence. Mrs. P. P. White, who was the principal guest on this occasion, was the recipient of a silver vase and cake-plate from the many friends she has made during her ten years sojourn amongst us. A delicious and dainty tea was served. During the afternoon several musical items wCre enjoyed, songs and piano solos being rendered by Mrs. Kitcat, Mrs. Warren, Mrs. Gladden, and Miss Hardy. The -hostess received in a white silk gown; Mrs. Beckett, tussore embroidered silk, toque of tussore shade with pale blue; Mrs. Kitcat, white muslin, pink stole, white hat; Mrs. Scott, cream coat and skirt,’cream and black hat; Mrs. Warren, black and white striped silk, hat en suite; Mrs. Alloway, cream coat and skirt faced with 'black, cream hat; Mrs. White, white embroidered gown, royal blue toque; Mrs. Schwartz, black tailor-made, of black and heliotrope; Mrs. Hatherley, vieux rose gown, white feather boa, black and white hat; Mrs. C. Rawson, cream serge Russian coat and skirt, royal blue hat; Mrs. Sandford-Cox, pale shade of vieux rose coat and skirt, large black hat wreathed with foliage and roses; Mrs. Howard, salmon shade eolienne, hat to match; Mrs. Sladden, white muslin, black hat; Mrs. Jameson, white linen with bands' of embroidery, black and white -hat; Mrs. Netherclift, white, straw hat swathed with blue; Mrs. Morrison, white muslin, hat of champagne straw wreathed with tiny pink roses; Mrs. Rawson, white linen with old Irish insertion, black hat; Mrs. Cameron, pretty gown of pale green eolienne, vest and sleeves of net, black hat with pale green flowers; Miss Stedman, black gown with white motifs, black hat; Miss Hardy, white insertioned muslin, black picture hat; Miss Perry, -white, with cream and black hat; Miss Howard, white; Miss McBeth, white frock, pink hat. Mr. White was presented with a liqueur stand by members of his staff. He was entertained at a supper by his fellow citizens, and there presented with a handsome silver inkstand. Cricket Match.

Wednesday was a glorious day for the cricket match, a team from the Wanganui Collegiate (School playing a return match against Marton on the local Park grounds. Mrs. Edward Smith provided a delicious afternoon tea. This popular match attracted a large number of onlookers, among whom were Mrs. and Miss Smith, Mrs. Fullerton-Smith, Mrs. and Miss Cook, Mrs. Rawson, Mrs. Arkwright, Mrs. Abraham (Palmerston North), Mrs. J. Broad, Mrs. Openshaw, Miss Stedman, Miss Newman, Mrs. W. Broad, Miss Bennett. Afternoon Tea. Mrs. Bishop gave a small afternoontea yesterday for her guest, Miss Enid Smith (Wanganui). Among those present were: Miss Gash, Miss Dorothy Cash, Miss Beckett, Miss C. Beckett, Miss Mcßeth, Miss Cook, Miss Woon, Miss Wallace. The same afternoon Mrs. Howard ’(Wcstoe) entertained some friends, inr cl-uding Mr. and Mrs. Tennent, Misses Tennent (2), Mrs. Schwartz, Mrs. Rawson, Mrs. and the Misses Cox, Mr. Bristow, Mr. Williams, Mr. Cash.

Personal. The Rev. W. E. ana Mrs. Drinkwater have gone to Dunedin for a short visit. Mrs. J. H. Miles has gone to Christchurch, and is staying with her sister, Mrs. Fairhurst, Papanui, ■Mrs. and Miss R. Beckett have gone to Wanganui for a few days. The Rev. V. H. Ki teat has gone to Wellington to attend Synod. We are all pleased to hear- that Mr. R. K. Simpson (Closeburn) is rapidly recovering from his- severe illness, and will soon be able to return to his home. Mr. and Mrs. White and family left for Hamilton yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Swinburne (Auckland) spent a few hours in Marton on Wednesday. Miss Whitaker, who is travelling in connection with the Girls’ Friendly” Society and Mothers’ Union, gave a most interesting lecture in St. Stephen’s schoolroom on Thursday afternoon. Miss Whitaker was the guest of Mrs. Seott during her short stay.
